Dietary Helper/Cook
Location: Hospital
Department: Nutrition Services
FTE: .55
Shifts:
- Variable shifts: Earliest start is 6:00 AM and latest end of shift is 7:00 PM
- Includes weekends and holidays
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2 year cook experience preferred
- Knowledge of special dietary needs preferred
- 2 years experience in quantity food service preferred
- Critical thinking, troubleshooting skills needed
- Menu and recipe reading skills, verbal skills, and mathematical skills needed
Position Responsibilities:
- Food preparation of a variety of foods in large quantities
- Monitor meal counts
- Breakdown or increase recipes as needed based on meal counts
- Inventory, verify receipts, and assure proper storage of foods and groceries
- Prepare and coordinate meal orders for patients and cafeteria
- Cashiering and service of guests
- Assure food safety sanitation guidelines are adhered to (ServSafe certification encouraged)
- Communication between various hospital departments
- Acts as leader to department in absence of management
